It was almost a year ago that ArenaNet announced that Guild Wars 2 would be free-to-play, but only the core game. Guild Wars 2 has the simplest of business models: buy the game and play it.
Free accounts can’t transfer gold to gems. The f2p is a big trial. Buy the game. The wiki says that gold to gems exchange is unavailable for F2P accounts. What everyone else said. Plus, imagine the amount of bots that would flood the game if they were able to convert their gold into gems.
Its pay for advantage and pay to sustain, most cosmetics look better than the legendary stuff, only the expansions have mounts and the story is ♥♥♥♥. try it before you splurge. . .

Free members can not send mail to other players, though they can receive mail. They can chat with other players by using /say /tell /group and /guild."
