For PVE I'd say Renegade is a great choice. Revenant overall is probably the best class right now because it has strong DPS builds as well as a strong Quickness and Alacrity build (Renegade is the alacrity build). Renegade is also strong in Open World and the Condition Vindicator build is basically unkillable. 1. There's a lot more that makes the two games fundamentally different. Mesmer in GW1 was about extreme punishment and debilitation. Mesmer in GW2 is more about trickery and standard magic flair. There are some punishment skills/traits here, but not to the extent of being the focus of the class (which it was in GW1) 2. 1. SargeMumar. • 3 yr. ago. Necro is the most forgiving class in the game. Both elite specs are hela tanky and deal good damage. Condi scourge is probably one of the easiest classes in the game. Reaper rotation is pretty simple but can have massive drop on dps if you screw up a couple of mechanics. 1. Wh4rrgarbl. I would say you shouldnt ask this question on reddit, and instead join a wvw guild and discord and ask them what would be ebst to play on. If you like hammer vindicator play the dps herald build on gw2 mists is a good place to start. If you are giving sites out for newbies send them in the right direction. Those looking to raid will find outdated builds which will hinder their progress, have little info, no benchmarks, no rotations, no tips, no tricks, no videos showing benchmark (which helps a ton) etc. Same for fractals, your build varies depending on 150 vs 221 AR, different sigils, potions, food even. . Cross-class utility is a lot less important. GladiusNocturno. Not really the most commonly used on all meta builds, but staff is the weapon available to most proffessions. The only proffessions that cant use it are warrior and Engineer. Symmol. Actually Sword is the most available weapon, only Necro can't use it. For PVE I'd say Renegade is a great choice. Tank: In GW2 PvE, this is usually fulfilled by a character with very high damage evasion or immunity (rather than mitigation) that also brings with it unique buffs for the raid. Chronomancer was always the go-to in this regard in HoT days, now there are a few other professions that can also fill the role- Renegade with an alacrity build or Step 2: buy the expansion bundle. Step 3: Make a Guardian. Step 4: use your free level 80 boost on your guardian. Step 5: Get 240 hero points (24 expansion zone hero point challenges) to max out Firebrand. Step 6: equip Firebrand in your third (bottom) specialization slot of your build tab. It's definitely not as strong anymore, but it's still a fun and unique class to play. I'd also suggest Revenant but it has become a bit of a mess with some running around with 15 utility skills, 10 weapon skills and extra abilities on dodge.
